Typical early morning summons to attend Prime Minister's Press Conference, 14 May, 2007.
Typical morning summons to appear at a Press Conference for the Prime Minister whenever they were in Sydney. They usually came through about 7am, leaving us and every other organisation scrambling to get to whatever location they were spruiking their wares at. The rationale for such short notice was "security concerns", but particularly if there were other jobs on it often left us scrambling. Even if the chnces of the PM saying anything we didn't know already or couldn't pick up off AAP was more or less zilch, we always had to go, the rationale being that if the PM dropped dead or was asttacked or there was some other piece of drama, as the national newspaper we had to be there.
