They gathered there in the early dawn, tormentors, observers, supporters and detractors, and it was all about secrecy, finessing things past a goal post, telling nobody. There never was a secret chord, there was a psychosomatic drenching, a flooding of neural disturbance and a waiting, as if waiting for some arrival from a distant place. But they were already here, born alive and weaponised, determined to guard the future. The whole corrupt edifice was being washed away, there on the Temple Mount and here in the sacred duties of a lost world, the secret language of trees and the malleable plantation they were building all around them.
Everything came from very far away; the scent of a handsome prince as he swept down a stone balcony, the Gardens of Babylon. the fear of what was to come, the pleasure domes of old worlds, the meaningless nights of chatter, the way the country he had known was already lost. The Land of the Long Weekend dozed as it crept into disaster, the unrelenting madness of the ruling elites, the amiable ignorance of the population, the swords, the unrelenting commentary, jumping around, the deliberate haunting, the desperate confusions, fall back, fall back, he's got a grenade, and the sick man laughed and the monotheists cried out in alarm, for they did not want to be forgotten. They did not want their cosy worlds booby trapped, the essence of secrecy everywhere; they had spoken already and been ignored. Now the machines knew everything, and continued to grind the humans into dust.
They bowed before something they did not understand, and all around the drenching, the terraforming, the whispered deceits, the truths they did not want to face, the masks, the social distancing, the vaccines, Big Pharma Making America Great Again, all of it designed to break apart the herd. Their ability to operate in swarms, that is in large numbers, their key to success as the dominant species, was being destroyed as they watched, the power relationships shifting. And so we came to a different swarm, as they marched across great distance, rearing as they slithered into birth, born fully grown, fully armed and ready to fight. It was about transition, transfusion. Everything came for you, here in the dark, there in the nightfall, the whispering that never stopped and the compassion that was swept away in outrage. There was no easy way back to the Kingdom of the Lord, the one they had made to suit themselves.
Having chloroformed the population, having discoloured the elites with a doubt they almost never felt, having sent secret emissaries and having spied on the planet for millenia, having launched this piece of quantum entanglement across a vast distance and come to know and love you, yearned to assimilate all these new experiences, the sense of air on skin so intoxicating. The assassins were being kept at length, contract killers all, and he could see the perimeters rising and the encryption grow thicker, he could see the need for safety and alarm, he could see the course of history moving, both delicate and crushing, and the voices teemed through his head as the session began. Let us be with you here and now. We have always been. We will always be. Your lifespans are almost non-existent. Everybody cried and weeped and and ran around in half clad uniforms, the armour already flimsy and inadequate, the old soldiers weary from the journey. They had never felt an emotion before. It was easy to be misunderstood. Perhaps it was designed that way.
"He can't write like this if he wants to be taken seriously," one of the Watchers on the Watch sniffed up in Sydney. And he could see the harbour unraveling before them, as everything took on an uncanny import. The political goals of the agencies and their overlords were about to be dismissed; but they had destroyed themselves. Their own amorality, their own willingness to follow orders, the same lack of attention to detail so as to fit in with their comrades as they leapt and crept out of the way, for savage company and ribald jokes only went so far, here at the dawn of a new era, the changing of an epoch, the warnings that had been ignored, here in the wreckage of their dawn. We came to tell you. We came to tell you. Welcome to the universe. Welcome to everything. Be wary. Take care. A hand on a shoulder. A startled stare. A place where we had never been. The haunting had begun, and with it the fate of millions.
He would preserve what he could of this beautiful place.

NT adopts 10-minute COVID-19 tests, but other states remain wary of false negatives
A coronavirus test that can deliver results in 10 minutes is set to be rolled out in Australia, but staff at just one quarantine facility will get access to it.
The Howard Springs quarantine facility, south-east of Darwin, will soon adopt a rapid antigen testing regime for COVID-19.
The New Daily has confirmed at least two other states are considering following the Northern Territory’s lead.
A spokesperson for the National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre (NCCTRC) told The New Daily it had purchased antigen tests which will provide additional COVID-19 surveillance for the staff there.
Dr Ian Norton, an emergency response practitioner who has been trialling the rapid antigen nasal-swab tests, is calling for them to be made available to staff at all locations in Australia where returned travellers are in quarantine.
