Planning University courses, 1973.
No one in my extended family had ever been near a university and there was no one to advise me.
I had good marks and qualified to go to any university I liked.
I picked Macquarie because it was new and I thought it would therefore be innovative.
It was more like an overblown teacher's college.
But when I tried to heed my philosophy lecturer's advice and follow him to Sydney University, it was too late to transfer the marks I had already accumulated, and I therefore ended up staying.
It was one of those regrets.
But my daughter ended up fulfilling my dream, achieving two degrees at Sydney University.
