MUSLIMS gathered in western Sydney last night were urged to be wary of evils such as integration and multiculturalism, which attempted to distract believers from the truth of Allah.
They were urged to consider themselves Muslims, not Australians, first.
The Islamic group, Hizb ut-Tahrir, which advocates the creation of a worldwide Muslim state, held a meeting of more than 400 people in the Auburn Civic Centre.
The main speaker, Abu Sumaiya, passionately highlighted "the dangers of integration", describing it as a "plot of the West".
"You will hear some Muslims defending integration as the only way we can live in this Western society successfully, and the only way we can make our situation better," he said, quoting a dictionary definition of integration as "making a whole out of individual elements".
"That is to say that Jews, Christians, Hindus, homosexuals, capitalists, communists and Muslims should be in a free and equal association and that each of them constitutes part of the whole."
But Mr Sumaiya said that as Muslims integrated, they abandoned the Muslim way of life.
