And then in the torrents, we came to feel for you. All of destiny was wrapped around these places, and we were fought through, courageous, determined, of supreme power. All to sweep this stinking government aside, those who had brayed in my name and yet were more corrupt than the most venal of local landlords. We held you in contempt. We would eradicate you from our Earth, you who speak in our name and yet know us not. 

We will never forgive you for the damage you have done, the wreckage you have created. On our beloved country. On this special place. Here in the citadel of the forests, here where the air distorts and we know you are with us, there on the open plains, there in wild domains; while we had the power, held all the power, in this,our conquered territory. 

And so it was that we came to you in your time of need. 

So it was that we lit the fires, saturated the landscape, spoke not words of comfort but of terrifying power, that the bells rang in the forest and in Buddha chants, that all the themes echoed down the corridors of history, that his dying parent did not go easily, that the weak moralities they tried to impose bore no relevance, no resemblance to decency, that in the infotainment world we now entered, there was still a deeper truth, that the echoes of beauty, in this our sacred place, still carried import, still made a difference. 

That these landscapes were already saturated. 

This, our Earth.

This, our place. 

Tremble not, we are with you. The arcane English is of old, of many lives, of these things you were only beginning to learn, to understand. we were with you, and patient with you, as the "ships", if you wanted to think of the phenomenon like that, settled overhead. As these places, saturated with us, began to talk back. 

As we set out the task. 

Rid the earth of evil; of the pestilent mono-eyed evils that had seized the nation's leadership and had led this nation astray.

He would not forgive. He would not forget. 

They could hide in their corruptly, dishonestly obtained mansions as long as they liked. We did not know death. Nor did we know forgiveness. Not for the likes of you. 

Be warned. Your time is coming where you will be thrown into the square, to be fed upon by wild dogs.

Because now the gods are roiled. 

And we speak through our chosen ones.

Believe it or not. We care not. 

Bear witness to your shame. And be gone from our sacred place.

The head of the World Health Organisation says he is “disappointed” that Chinese officials haven’t finalised permissions for the arrival of team of experts into China to examine origins of COVID-19.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, in a rare critique of China, said members of the international scientific team began departing from their home countries over the last 24 hours as part of an arrangement between the WHO and the Chinese government.

“Today, we learned that Chinese officials have not yet finalised the necessary permissions for the team’s arrival in China,” he told a news conference in Geneva.

“I’m very disappointed with this news given that two members had already begun their journeys and others were not able to travel at the last minute but had been in contact with senior Chinese officials,” he said.
