It was with sickened heart, in the brutal regimes of the time, in the deepest hypocrisy of their public statements as the streets of the Victorian capital were stricken with violent confrontations and a terrible yearning for the abyss.
As wind whipped through their glacial forms; and any pretence at good intent vanished.
Democracy was over.
Common decency was over.
The brutalist regimes of the future were already in the present.
The cosy familiarity of a country called Australia was gone.
All much of the world had ever known about the country, thanks to populists documentaries, was that we had the most dangerous animals on Earth.
Poisonous spiders, venomous snakes, giant crocodiles, and a friendly, unsophisticated population.
Now people, still naïve enough to believe their politicians, talked of Freedom Day, how good it would be, but freedom day never came. There was a myriad of excuses for locking people in their own homes, that is, imprisoning entire populations.
Information control. Information management. Information mismanagement. The perpetrators did their best to conceal their crimes.
Nothing happens without a reason, is that what they say?
Ad hominin. But what was the term for attacks against an entire class of people? For an entire population?
People were home schooling their children. Demoralised, defeated, he noticed it in almost all his encounters now, that there could hardly be a more vicious or more dishonest, more incompetent way of dealing with an issue.
Not just Australian against Australian. But government against the people.
You lock them up and throw away the key, you destroy their livelihoods and give them no hope.
Never had there been more incompetent government.
Never had been there more violent displays on the street;
The governments state and Federal were virulently pushing vaccines, as if they were the cure to this terrible impasse.
You can have these freedoms back when we get t o 70%, 80%. The problem was people in lockdown have plenty of time in their hands. They can look up all the latest studies and analysis for themselves, all of which made many questions about the mass vaccination campaigns being run not by the medical profession but by the various governments, with the deluded claim that once targets are met restrictions could be eased.
Who were these people?
How did these fourth rate political apparatchiks gain so much incredible power?
The lioness, the world's top predator in the imagery of animal spirits, was hunting now.
She didn't need the falcons. She didn't need the invisible machines manipulating time. Their hyper-intelligence. Their uncanny abilities.
She could already see whichever way the rivers ran.
In the valleys of the future.
"I wouldn't talk much about that."
He shrugged.
He came from a kind, of a time, where it was impossible to lie.
And in any case, nobody would believe it anyway.

Thousands of unarmed construction workers marched Melbourne's streets in protest of the worlds longest and harshest lockdown.
Suddenly they found themselves confronted by an armoured vehicle operated by a counter-terrorism squad, backed by hundreds of riot police.
Doesn't it make you feel safe, knowing that our tax dollars spent on beefing up Victoria's counter-terror capabilities has now been turned on the people they were designed to protect?
